Career Opportunities
Psychology is one of the most popular majors in American colleges and universities. Psychology majors are highly employable. Employers are looking for individuals who have general skills such as good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, teamwork ability, flexibility, and analytical skills. Most undergraduate psychology programs have helped students develop these skills. Psychology students are therefore prepared for many different types of work. Many indeed are employed in nontraditional areas.
Among students graduated with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, approximately 10% enter graduate programs in psychology and about 20% enter other graduate programs. Those who did not attend graduate school are employed in areas such as business, mental health and social/human services, and education.
