Elaine Garcia-Krieg has been teaching courses in developmental reading and math, TASP review and study skills at HCCS-Central since 1995. She has also worked in partnership with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department, Metro Police and H.P.D., successfully preparing recruits for employment exams. A published poet since age 9, she recently completed a book of poetry, How to Read a Life between the Lines, under the pseudonym E.F. Briley. She has also won state awards in music composition. A full-time instructor at HCCS since 1983, Gene Voss teaches all levels of English and developmental reading. He also has taught at the Central Campus of the University of Houston and is a member of several teachers organizations, including the Texas Association of Developmental Education, the National Association of Developmental Education, and the Texas Community College Teachers Association.
Prior to entering the field of education, Dr. Gary Wanamaker was an instructional designer working with such diverse organizations as the U.S. Navy, Pacific Gas & Electric and the Hamferd Nuclear Power Plant. Since 1992, Dr. Wanamaker has been with HCCS and was a staff/faculty developer until 1997. A full time resident faculty who has been pursuing Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology. He has received his M.A. from University of Houston-Clear Lake in Psychology with a focus on Children and Adolescents. Apart from receiving his bachelor's from University of Houston-Downtown in Psychology, he has also been a member of: Psi Chi- National Honor Society for Psychology Professionals, American Psychological Association and Lifetime member of the National Honor Society.
