GEOL 1345 INTRODUCTION TO OCEANOGRAPHY Syllabus
Credit: 3 (2 lecture, 2 lab)
An introduction to the world's oceans, emphasizing the geological, physical, biological, chemical, and ecological aspects of the marine environment.

GEOL 1347 METEOROLOGY Syllabus
Credit: 3 (3 lecture)
The study of the basic principles of weather and climate and the pervasive effects of weather conditions on daily lives, commerce, agriculture, urban planning and other human activity. The course offers basic scientific theory with applications familiar to the student.

GEOL 1401 Earth Science I Syllabus

Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab)

Survey of physical geology, historical geology, and related sciences. Includes study of the physical natureof Earth and the physical processes acting upon and

within the Earth. This course will also address the geological understanding of time,the history of life, and physical changes since the Earth's origin. This

course is designed to meet the needs of education and non-science majors. GEOL 1401 or GEOL 1402 can be taken in any order.

Geol 1402 Earth Science II Syllabus

Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab)

Survey of astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, and related sciences. Includes study of the planets and the stars, the world's oceans, the interactions between humans and Earth, and the basic principles of weather and climate. This course is designed to meet the needs of education and non-science majors.

GEOL 1401or GEOL 1402 can be taken in any order.

GEOL 1403 PHYSICAL GEOLOGY Syllabus
Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab)
Study of the nature of the earth, including the physical processes operating on and inside the earth. Laboratory includes the study of rocks, minerals, and topographic maps.

GEOL 1404 HISTORICAL GEOLOGY Syllabus
Credit: 4 (3 lecture, 3 lab)
Study of the history of the earth, its life and geologic time. Laboratory includes the study of sedimentary rocks, fossils, and maps.
Core Curriculum Course

 

Physical Geology and Historical Geology will transfer to four year institutions as lecture-lab based science core courses (4 credit hours).  Environmental Science, Oceanography, and Meteorology transfer as lecture based science core courses (3 credit hour).
