The Intensive English Program of the Houston Community College System offers non-native speakers an intensive program (20 hours a week) in English instruction to prepare for work on a college degree, or for greater opportunites in personal, career, and community activities.

The Intensive English Program helps students improve English language skills, including conversation, grammar, reading, and writing. Students practice in the classroom and in an audio/computer lab. Classes are taught by professional, caring language teachers.

The regular Fall and Spring Semesters last 16 weeks. The Summer Semester offers the same number of class hours in 10 weeks. In this time, students can make significant progress in their language ability. The Intensive English Program also offers evening classes, taught 4 evenings a week.

The Houston Community College System is divided into five colleges with more than twenty campuses and centers. Five colleges have Intensive English Programs (IEP) for students who need to improve their English Language skills. All five IEPs offer the same courses of study.
