Do I need to know how to dance to take a dance class?
Level I classes (Ballet I, Modern I, Jazz I, etc.) are taught for the beginning student.
Will I be bored if I already know how to dance?
Professional dancers take class every day. You can always work on some aspect of your technique, no matter what the skill level of the class.
What should I buy for the first class?
Don't buy anything for the first day of class. Your professor will explain what you need. Some of the clothing can be purchased at the Central College bookstore, which allows students to use certain types of financial aid.
Am I too old to take dance?
Students as young as 14 and as old as 70 have successfully completed dance courses at HCC. Your success depends on your attitude.
Am I too old to become a professional dancer?
Most professional ballet dancers begin studying dance before the age of 12. There are other styles of dance which may not require such an early start. Realistic goals, body type, and natural aptitude are more important to success than number of years in training.
Which colleges offer dance classes?
At this time, only Central College and Northwest College offer dance classes.
