Deborah Quanaim, M.A. Dance, Mills College; Chair, HCCS Dance Discipline Committee; Chair, Fine Arts Department, Central College; professor, Dance Department Central College

DEBORAH POTTS QUANAIM is the founder and director of the Dance program and the Repertory Dancers at HCC Central College. She currently serves as Department Chair for Fine Arts at Central College, HCCS. Mrs. Quanaim graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Agnes Scott College and subsequently earned her M.A. in Dance from Mills College. Mrs. Quanaim has taught dance at Louisiana University, Woodrow Wilson High School in San Francisco and at the Booker T. Washington Arts Magnet in Dallas. She has presented choreography at the Jewish Community Center Dance Month, at the High School for Performing and Visual Arts, at Episcopal High School, and at the Houston International Festival. She has served on several panels for CACHH, served two terms as president of the Houston Dance Coalition, and is a founding member of the African Dance Society. Mrs. Quanaim is founding director of World Dance Institute, and served as executive director of Central College Go Theatre Team for three years.

CYNTHIA ROBINSON CUPACH is a performance artist, dancer, choreographer, and educator. She earned her BS. in Physical Education & Dance at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio and her MA. in Dance Ethnology (World Dance) and Performance at Antioch University MA. in Dance Ethnology (World Dance). Ms. Cupach is an established modern dancer and a fifth generation Duncan dancer. Her world dance specialties are Polynesian, Asian, North African and flamenco. Ms. Cupach is the Assistant Department Chair of Dance at Houston Community College Central.  She is the recipient of the Dr. Anthony Chee Teaching Excellence Award, 2002; Rockefeller Center grant 1992,1993, 1995, 1996; Fulbright Scholarship recipient, 2005).
