Unless you attend a police academy, the AA Degree Plan is the best value for your time and money. All courses completed in the core curriculum will transfer and prepare you for advanced studies at a four year institution. If you graduate from a police academy, you may earn academic credit towards an Associate of Applied Science in Law Enforcement. For students interested in a career in forensic science, a four year degree in a natural science or a four year degree in forensic science with labs such as the program at Sam Houston State University is required by law. If you do not like biology, chemistry, physics, or computer science you are considering the wrong career. To test your interest, you may want to consider introductory courses in crime scene technology or computer crime.
