The purposes of the biology discipline are to provide courses in Biological Sciences that ensure scientific literacy for an educated citizenry in a world of rapid advances, to provide effective and transferable biology courses in order to ensure the success of students transferring to universities and other institutions of higher learning, and to provide an adequate basic biology education for students going into allied health or other science related careers.
